having all the technologies, great clothes, yummy food...i just can't seem to stop spending money and buying all these great stuff. ive been having a hard time staying on my budget. my credit cards are all maxed out and my bank account is in its minimum balance. i know i have to save and think of ways to cut my expenses down...do you also have the same problem as i do? are you a big spendthrift like me or a thrifty?

You should stop right now. Are you planning to go bankrupt one day. Stop. Your credit cards will swallow up you whole one day.

I don't even activate my credit cards for store purchases. only use it to buy some important stuff online. Anyway, I am not a big spender and am able to make and stick to a budget. Having stuff is not so important to me as having a nest egg and a plan..

i don't have such problem as i don't do much shopping, i always see the stuff to buy then i see the money i have, and go for buying it.

when i was still single i was like you but now that i have my own son i think of the things that i should have or what is necessary before i indulge myself into buying something that later on i will never reuse or is not that important to my everyday life.

yes, we're the same. before year 2007 starts, i wrote down things that i'm going to do for this year to spend wisely my money since i'm depending on my salary. before payroll time i've listed certain amounts that i could retain in my atm account to save, some amount to spent for shopping, groceries, but all these written will just stay in that piece of paper. my budget plan is useless because it was never followed. i always end up spending more until it's only my allowance till next payday that's left in my wallet. so now i have a piggy bank that i could put in my loose coins.. at least i'm stating to save.

I would rather spend thna save but if i nedd something which costs more than i have then i would save for it. I think its better to invest for a short term and then spend. But yes, if you just kep on saving then how would one enjoy his savings. So i think it should be a mixture of both. Yuor budget should ask you to save say 10%or 20% and then rest yu could spend so in 5 budgets you would save the complete money.

I do an equal share of both. I have slowed down my spending, but have increased my savings because the interest rates on savings accounts are quite high these days.

sometimes I spend a lot but I still have my savings with me..I love to shop clothes, accesories, parfumes once in a while I spent half of my salary on shopping and foods, then the other half straight to my account. for me it's important that we still have savings incase we need money for emergencies.

i say i spend within my means. though sometimes, i also buy things that i see are not one of the plenty. i guess it's okay to reward myself with expensive things sometimes, but only if they are reasonably priced. on the general picture, i think it's easy to understand why and how people seem to splurge so much and so often. more often than not, we feast so much with our eyes on things and we buy and buy and buy mindlessly and realize at the end of the day that we don't really need those things afterall. so i guess before shopping, one should be clear on something : do i need this? if so, then go ahead and pay for the item. but if you only want it, check whether the item is reasonably priced or whether you will have the chance/occasion/will/gut to use the item in the future. that way, you will be giving justice to the time and money you spent for that thing.
