This is a shot a co-worker took of a flower in London, England. It is gorgeous and I was wondering if anyone could identify the species? It's really a neat flower!

Pretty Flowers - Flowers grouped together
Those look a lot like the aloe flowers, but I don't see an aloe plant in there. Anyone know what this flower is?

Yellow Flower - Pretty yellow flower, this type comes in other colors as well. Grows in semi-desert area.
Oh thanks! From "iris" I found that it looks like the African Iris. Anyone know this flower? It comes in a variety of various colors I think.

I have no clue what that one is. Maybe wild orchid? They have so many of those.

Looks like a Japanese Iris, although I would expect the larger outer petals to point downward more.

As the others have said, they do appear to be Red Hot Pokers. They looked to be a bit past their peak of bloom. The other names for them are : Torch Lily and Poker Plant. Genus: Kniphofia Moench Species ( Scientific name ): Kniphofia uvaria (L.) Oken

I've never seen them growing here. Can you tell me what area in the US they can be found growing?

This is called a red hot poker, or also a torch lilly. I have never grown one, but I understand thay can be grown all over the United States, and that there are several varieties and you can have them blooming for almost six months out of the year. I may have to plant some, as I understand they are great for hummingbirds, and can winter out if appropriately sheltered.

No idea what it is, but it for some reason reminds me of something I've seen in all the Alice in Wonderland movies :) It's pretty neat!

Well, you already got the answer. I hadn't a clue as to what they are. But, they would look lovely in my perennial garden. Now to get hubby to bring home a couple of them for me. He works in a greenhouse.
