From her actions of late Speaker Polositi seems to be confused as to what she was elected to do in the government. She was elected to represent the people of San Fransisco and as the Speaker of the House she isincharge of the runnig of the house and the legislative process there. No where in the constitution does it say that she can dictate Military Policy or direct how the war will be run. She has no Authoirity to meet with foreign leaders to discuss US Policy except the offical policy of the US Government as stated by the State Department. She is meeting with Syarian Leaders to discuss the Iraq War and our role in the middle East with out getting a breifing from the State department. She is acting like she is the President of the US. Do you think she is a danger to the US and should she be stopped?

Yes she is a danger and she should be stopped. Who is going to do the stopping though? She has gone over there against Bush's wishes thinking that somehow she can accomplish something where others have failed. What even qualifies her to try something like this? Does she has experience in foreign affairs, or is it more likely that she is making a political statement much the same as those congressmen did last year when they pulled a similar stunt? This is kind of a pet peeve of mine with these people. Instead of doing the job they were elected to do, they would rather meddle in things that they have no business messing with. Would she be doing this if a Democrat was in office? I think not.

Is she that naive that she doesn't realize that she will be used by our enemys to make us look foolish and weak. They will view her as begging them to help the US get out of a difficult situtation. This is similar to what Senator Edward Kennedy tried when he wrote a letter to the Russian KGB suggesting that they run a Pr campaing to undermine President Reagan. She needs to be careful when dealing with such people with out the offical backing of the Government. She should watch the movie " Executive Decision" when a Senator tried to intervien in a hijacking for political advantage. When the hijacker needed to make a point that they were serious they called him to the cokpit and executed him so the President knew it. She needs to remember when you play with fire you might get burned.

I just saw some photos of her trip to Syria. when she arrived she was wearing a pants suit. when she met with the Syrian President she was wearing a skirt that when she sat down was above her knee. When she went out in public she was wearing a Burqa like outfit. According to some people such action is sending a message. She is being disrespful when she is wearing skirt to meet with the president. When she wears the burqa like outfit she is sending the message that she is subservent to the men. Maybe she should have taken the breifing from the State Department to find out what kind of message she is sending. When I went to teach in Korea we were bfiefed on certain behaviors. I was told that Korea is a Male Society with Age being very important and do not be offended if people ask your age. The Speakers Aids should have preped her more or elseshe thinks she can act any way she wants. The enemys of the US will use her visit to their advantage to show how the American leaders have no respect for Arab Leaders.

I wasn't aware that Kennedy tried that, but it figures. Reagan wasn't a favorite of the Democrats either as I recall. As far as the scene from that movie, well, we can always hope. As it is, I think it would be justice if Pelosi and her group were presented with a stone wall and a blindfold upon their return.

I think it is apparent to anyone who knows the government and the rules that Speaker Pelosi has overstepped her boundaries. First, the attempt to act as commanders in chief by the Democrats is unconstitutional. Secondly, this trip to Syria is unnecessary and puts our government in a vicarious position. Any talks between her and the leaders of the Middle East show a weakness and a divide in the US Government. This is a huge opportunity for even the weakest of our enemies to get a foot in the door. This little "goodwill" trip is actually going to harm our foreign policy by degrading our strength as a nation. Speaker Pelosi needs to remember that she only runs the House. She is responsible for what happens on the hill not abroad. I am not sure if there is any action that can be taken by the President. But the members of Congress can do something and should.

Hopefully people will remember or be reminded of this at the next election. This is something that the press should be all over her if they were reporters of the News in stead of being liberal mouthpeaces.

Her one and only goal as Speaker of the House is to undermine the US as much and as often as possible. She doesn't care how many laws she breaks or how many lies she has to tell. The thing is, her supporters don't care either. The US Constitution and seperation of powers means nothing to the left. While the US is at war with terrorists, the left is at war with Prs. Bush. Trashing the US Constitution is just "collateral damage" to them. If anyone doesn't believe me, count how many replies here defend Pelosi without ever citing any legitimate authority she has to have policy talks with leaders of other nations.

I did a little research and found that she did in fact brerak the law. There is a little known and nnever enforced act called the logan act that forbids anyone from conducting diplomatic negotiations with another nations leader without express aproval of the president. Thpugh she will probably never be prosicuted, it does demonstrate her complete ignorance to the way of government and international affairs. The president expresly dis-aproved of her trip but she went anyway. I fear this may only be the beginning of things with her and as time goes on we can expect to see far more of this kind of behavior from her. This can mean no good to this nation or our allies in the future.

It almost seem like she is trying to make a power grab. If she continues to grab more and more power for congress which is power for the speaker. This almost seem like the legislative Branch wants to have a coup and they will appoint the president and judges. They are trying to take over the role of the Comander in Chief and now they want to control Foreign policy. Senator Kennedy made the comment that the president should contact the Senate minority to see get a list of nomonies for the Supream Court. Through their self proclaimed oversight duties they want to approve the hiring and firing of the US Attornies. Their role to advise and consent to presidential appointments is becomming reccomend and approve. We should be concerned because the system of goverment established by our founding fathers has serves us well and created the greatest country on earth.

I have a number of issues with Madam speaker's little trip abroad. First being is that it is NOT in her job description. It is not described as a speaker's duty anywhere. Several groups have come out and praised her for the trip including Islamic Jihad. Many may interpret this as her trip being a success. This is a dangerous mis-conception. All she is doing is creating a false sense of security in this nation and opening more opertunity for these groups to get to us in our moment of devide and blind trust in diplomacy. There is no amount of diplomacy and reasoning or diplomacy that can be successful with people who are driven by deep religious belif to kill us. You CANNOT negotiate with these people and it sickens me that a great number of believe we can. YOU CANT. I re-iterate, YOU CAN NOT NEGOTIATE WITH THESE PEOPLE. Despite what success may apear to arise from this it is far from the case. People like Pelose need to get this into their thick skulls. Bill CLinton, who was LOVED by the world, was diplomatic with all of them, was caught with his pants down every time one of them blew up more of our people. Now if Clinton's diplomacy didn't stop all these attacks, why should ANYONE think that Mrs. Pelose's will be any more useful other than to open us to more attacks. I dont believe there is any legal recourse in this matter, there is no law forbidding a u.s. congress member from such trips. However, when we suddenly find our selves being blind-sided by another attack, we will have the speaker to thank for it, although she will be far too ignorant to realize that it was her that opened the door to it.

We now know that she can not even deliver a message correctly. The ones that will have to deal with her is the people in her district. Will they support a person who is trying to make deals with people who beleive in Killing Gays, keeping women as a mans property, making women second class citizens? The Speaker showed that she is subservent to the Arab leaders by wearing a burqa like garment and a scarf on her head. Forgein Diplomats are exempt from the dress code. If she beleives that she should respect the local customs then she should have worn a pants suit wehn she met with the Syrian leader. She is an outspoken feminist and yet when she has a chance to show the world she caved in. Will her district vote her out, probably not because they hate President Bush and will forgive her for caving in on her values.
