Which ankle do you put an ankle bracelet on?

I was given an ankle bracelet and automatically put it on my left ankle. I was informed (rather rudely), that I needed to change it to my right, because gay women used the left ankle as a sign you are gay! Then another informed me to keep it on the left because that is the "heart" side of the body and expresses I am a lkoving and caring person. Still another told me that if a man gave me the ankle bracelet wearing certifies the female as a "slave" to men. Huh???? What stories have you heard and do you know the correct placement?

This is interesting, because jewelry placement means different things in different circles. So really, you can be rather stuck, because people from one circle take it to mean one thing, which might be positive in your view, while another group of people may take it to mean something that you find negative. I say just wear the stupid thing and tell people who comment on it to grow up.

I have never been a person of stereotype but I do wear my ankle bracelet on my right ankle. I don't believe it matters either way which side you wear it on. I have always been told that if a woman wore one earring she was a lesbian. I don't believe in it and also I feel we all have our preferences. It is almost like if a man wears pink he is gay. lol, you know, there is always something in this world that means something different. I wouldn't worry about it. We are who we are. Have a wonderful day.

I've been wearing anklet for so long and have never heard anything like what you said. I'm much more comfortable putting it on my right ankle. I don't think wearing anklet whether on our left or right ankles signifies anything. People can wear it anywhere they like for as long as they're comfortable with it.

Those stories are complete BS. I wore an anklet yesterday and I also put it on my left ankle. I'm not gay, and I'm not a slave. I simply like my anklet on my left.

Well 'Bee' I wear my ankle bracelet on my right ankle. My left ankle stays swollen due to a tibial tendonitis, so that makes the ankle bracelet too tight on that ankle! As for one ankle or the other symbolizing being 'gay' I don't hold much faith in any of that business. I think those beliefs change from circle to circle, just as it used to with earrings and men. I say wear what you are comfortable with and enjoy! I like rainbows, and I don't let the fact that they symbolize lesbianism stop me from having them around me! Let people talk if they so desire! I am a happily married woman who thinks rainbows are awesome!

I have wanted an ankle bracelet since I was a teen but never had one before. I mentioned to my husband in passing that i had never had one and always wanted one. Guess what??? He bought me one for Christmas. I put it on my right ankle and I love it. I have never heard anythign about where I was supposed to wear thema dn I really dont care. I love it and I love the man who purchased it for me. I will wear it on my right ankle because taht is where I feel comfortable in it. Good luck with yours.

I would put my ankle bracelet on the ankle with a foot attached. It's dumb when people tell people stupidity as you were told. Just wear it.

Bracalets - I love making barcalets by myself
I always have a bracelet on right ankle and I never get it off. sometimes in special events I put bracalets in both the ankles but they are very delicate bracalets, not vulgary and never made of gold.I don't like gold. I also make bracalets by myself.

I think most, if not all of these stories are old wives tales. I too once heard that wearing one meant that the wearer was common, but my aunt worse one for many years and she was far from common. These stories don't mean a thing. Wear your ankle bracelet on whichever ankle you want and be proud. If anyone says anything to you tell them that you are proud to wear your ankle bracelet and that their story is just that - a story. I wish you all the very best.

I wear my ankle braclet on the right ankle but only because its the most comfotable. I've never heard that wearing it on the left is a sign of anything...gay or loving. I do like the theory that the left is your "heart side" so wearing it on the left expresses you are caring/loving. I'm not sure why an ankle bracelet would certifie you as a slave to men...I hate to imagine what a wedding band means to that person?!?! Anyway, ankle bracelets are just another piece of jewlery and I say wear it on the ankle that feels the most comfortable!
