How many times do you change the diaper?

Do you change the diaper every hour for your one year old? Or do you change the diaper only when it is dirty and not just wet? Is it okay to keep the diaper on for three or four hours? Should I wait till he poops to change? Can the baby catch cold from a wet diaper? Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

No the baby cannot catch a cold from the wet but they can get diaoer rash from the wet. Change them when they wet and change them when they mess. It is not ok to keep the diaper on 3 or 4 hours if it is wet. Would you like to run around with a wet bottom?? lol Good luck and thanks for the post

My daughter tells me whenever she has pooed (although I can generally smell it anyway lol), so I always change her nappy then straight away. As for pee, I change her : 7am when she wakes up 10am before she goes down for her nap 12/1pm when she wakes up from her nap 3.30pm before leaving the house to pick hubby up from work 7pm before dinner 9pm at bedtime some of those nappy changes might correspond with her telling me that she's pooed.

I would change it as often he needs to be changed i.e. everytime he pees and or poos. I wouldn't want my son to be wearing a wet diaper for long or else he will get nappy rash. Not a nice thing for any child to go through. I would also air out his bottom a couple of times a day too. I don't think you can catch a cold from wearing a wet diaper as far as I know.

I change my son when he's wet. I know I'd hate to sit on my own pee, so I respect him and change him as he wets. It's easy to tell since he's in cloth diapers. It's not every hour, but he wets just about every two hours. Three or four hours in a diaper is just gross to me.

Diapers should be changed every time the baby poops. My pedia also recommends diaper change every 6 hours at most for disposables even if it is still not yet wet. This way any infection and irritation may be prevented and the baby will feel fresh and clean. If I may add, it is also recommended, if you are using disposables, to use cloth-like ones. They are more absorbent and help keep the baby feel clean and dry.

At the daycare I worked at the rule was for the 1-2 year old room, Change any time the child poops, and for pee, you change them before nap around 12, after nap around 215, and before they go home between 4-515pm. At home we do it similar with our 2 year old. Usually 1 first thing in the morning, then another after nap, and another around 5 then bedtime and of course if he poops.
