Is this why they don't want you to touch the stomach area, most of the time.

It depends upon the cat. Sometimes, there are cats who are very aggressive and so, they would not just let you touch their stomach. Most of this type are the male cats. But there are cats who are very sweet that they won't mind if you touch it. I have this cat whom I cuddle and because she is used to be cuddled, it is fine with her that I tickle her stomach (as long as it is gentle).

My cat is very sweet and trusting. She will only let me touch her stomach when it is her idea though LOL

I don't know if they're ticklish exactly... My cat does love belly rubs sometimes but not for very long of a time at once. I think that exposing their belly is a really vulnerable position for cats to put themselves in. If they want to show their owners they trust them, they will lay on their back and look like they're waiting for a belly rub... but instinctively they don't like their belly to be touched because in the wild if an animal got them in that position it would probably be the end of them!

She rolls in the dirt or the grass but with a watchful eye though. No one can get close to her outside. My cat is so moody, but I guess when your as pretty as she is, she can be picky, she is like a rich woman in a fur coat.

i dont think they are ticklish but i do think when a cat has its stomarch exposed, it is vulnerable. I think it is possible to get a cat to trust you enough to touch this area but it takes years of careful handling blessed be

All three of my cats like to have their bellies rubbed so it's not a matter of being ticklish, but trust, since they are exposing their tummies which is the most vulnerable place on their body. Even CosmicWhiteWolf's wild cat that she let me have lets me rub his tummy while he's in my arms. He does make eye contact, thou, to make sure I'm not thinking of hurting him. Tickling the hair just inside their ears does seem to be very ticklish to them as my cats are always shaking their heads when I do that. lol

She trust me enough to clean her ears with q-tips, I had noticed some dirt in there and her digging in it. She let me hold her in my arms belly up and my husband (daddy) gently cleaned her dirty ear. She didn't make any fuse and had to clean her self all over again when where done.

Cats don't like you to touch their tummies unles they trust you. It's a protective thing. But I do think cats are ticklish, especially on the feet. The cats in my family jerk their feet back when you ever so slightly touch their paws.

I didn't know it was a trust issue. And the feet thing was just don't touch me there kind of attitude or a game with them. Because when I touch her on her feet her paw goes back up to my finger. Like tag or something
