Everyone's worst nightmare.

I know this has probably happened to everyone at least once in there lifetimes. Today as I got my two young children into the truck, it wouldn't start. After having a young man try to jump start my truck for me and it didn't work. I realised very fast I was stranded with no help in sight. It was around 5:30 this afternoon and cold. My husband was stressed out over the phone because he couldn't help, we only have the one truck. So after a few minutes of sitting in my own self pity ( crying ). I went to the nearest store and called for a cab. Once in the cab I broke down again. $ 20 bucks to go maybe two miles. Thankfully my neighbor let me borrow there car to run to a store to get a new battery, that was very interesting. My husband wouldn't take the time to double check and see if the battery that we where going to buy was what we needed, so we had to turn around and go back to get a new one. If it wasn't for taxi's, I would have had to walk home in the cold, with two small children. If my husband wasn't a coward, we could have saved 20 bucks that I paid the driver to get home to ask a neighbor if they would have kindly went and picked us up. I am glad it happened today and not when my husband left on his two week deployment with the guard. Just to many things went wrong, two crying children didn't help matters either. Care to share your stories of the first time your car or truck broke down and left you stranded?

I am sure that had to suck. I never had a car so I have never gone through any of that though. But then dragging kids around in public transportation is no joyride either I find.

After I had a good cry in the cab, then again once I got home while asking my neighbor's for help, I felt a lot better.

Every once in awhile I will have nightmare dreams, thankfully they are just dreams and not the real thing.

At least with the 2nd ex, you don't have to talk to him unless you want to.

Do I have a story to share with you! I took both of my kids up to the store with me. It must have been maybe 20 miles from my home and it was raining that day. To top it off we were just getting over a cold. Anyway, when we were done shopping we left the store and got into the car. I buckled up the kids and myself, started up the car, and went to back out. But there was a problem. The car was rolling rather funny. So I parked a few spaces from where I was and got of the car. And I couldn't believe what I saw. One of my tires was as flat as a pancake! And here I had no clue as how to change a tire. Well, I called my husband, but it wasn't really safe for him to come out to my rescue seeing as the only other transportation we had was his motorcycle. It's not a good idea to ride in the rain. He would have risked it, but just around the same time a vehicle pulled up to me and a man along with his wife (?) rolled down his window and asked if I needed help. I hated the thought of putting him out, but accepted his help and he changed the tire for me. I didn't know how to thank him (besides saying thank you) so I started to give him the little bit of cash that I had on me (I think it was $15.00). He started to refuse and told me to spend it on my kids. I got chocked up and insisted he take it. And in the end he did. He was so nice and I couldn't believe a stranger could be so kind hearted. I just hope I didn't give him the cold that I had.

this is back years when my son was young ans his sister younger.we were on the freeway going to get a car part and the truck ahead of us had a keg of nails that had overturned.' the nails spilled onto the freeway and lo and behold cars ahead of us were stopping all with one problem flat tires. the limo ahead of us avoided the nails but our pickup had all four' tires flat. the man in the limo was a wealthy restaurant owner who had an aaa card. He called for our pickup to be towed to his garage that he personally owned and he had I and my little girland my husband get into his limo. He took us to the garage where our truck already hadfour new tires on it. he refused our'offerof money and handed us three tickets to dine at the closest restuarant that he owned and gave us a map to follow. so the day startedout as a calamity but turned out much better than we could ever have imagined. that man would not take one penny from us. had he not helped us I do not know just what we would have done, probably had to call my mom and have her wire us the money to get the tires so we could go home. she was babysittin our other child who had been in school when we left.
