Do you think landlines are still important?

No :( Our old number has been given to an institution near by and my husband still doesn't see the necessity of a landline. The way he sees it, we are paying much less for phone calls with 4 sims to the house. He plans to get another cell phone for the home....but I do not approve of our 10 year old having a cell phone. I find it hard enough to keep him away from my phone and the applications. Imagine him having one of his own. I'm not worried about the calls because I know he is responsible about it. But I don't like him playing the games and using the other applications (even with basic models, there is atleast one game).

I know how you feel. We also disconnected our landline and now that we have done so, I have realized the discomfort of having no landline. There are businesses around which only have landlines and calling from my cellphone to these landlines are quite a task and quite expensive as well. Further, it's difficult to just leave people or know the situation at home when the owners of the cellphones are not home. I guess we can only see the disadvantage of such decisions when we have already made them. Do you think you'll reconnect your landline any time soon?

Yeah it's true. These phones are only good until their batteries start waning off or become obsolete or be destroyed since it's parts are too fragile. I guess landlines are good because you don't need to maintain those types of phones all the time.

The only real problem with a land line most of the time is periodically replacing the cord.

I don't think so since in times of power outages, the only thing that doesn't required power to be used is the landline. Further, cellphones generally have signal or network problems. I think it's still safer to have a landline at home.

Oh, I know what you mean about the bills in the landlines compared to the cellphones. Not to mention that cellphones get lost faster than landlines hehehehe

I have realized that they are still important regardless the ease of mobiles. I guess landlines are stable lines and regardless what happens (as long as you keep on paying them) you could be found or contacted by anyone. Shows stability, I guess. The batteries of our mobile are really ridiculous but we can't blame them because of the features that we've demanded for those little things. However, in my life right now it's rare that I use the landline. Rare in the sense that it's only my parents who keep using them because most of my friends would just txt or call me on the mobile - not even often, usually it's just txts.
