What is your opinion about ECTOLIFE, the technology that can make and grow a baby?

May 7, 2024 6:52am CST
The ECTOLIFE technology has been developed to help parents especially those with difficulty in having babies, to create one. You can determine the features of the babies , for instance blue eyes, height, and brain capacity. Do you support this technology or you think it is completely off?

Is that like test tube babies? I assume you have to take eggs from the mother and sperm from the father. How do they determine the colour of the babies eyes?

Its like a pod. I think it comes with settings to choose the baby's physical features

EctoLife is a concept that offers parents to 'produce' customised babies with the help of artificial wombs. Do you imagine a baby produced in a factory. We are getting very low as humans if we allow something like this.

I think it has its pros and cons. For the good side, it could offer hope to parents struggling with infertility. On the other hand, it could lead to a society where individuals are valued based on their genetic makeup, rather than their inherent worth as human beings. This is quite a complex question. It requires careful consideration and discussion.

I didn´t know about it. But I´m disgusted as I learned about it. It would be like buying a bag.

Well, it's a tricky one. On one hand, ECTOLIFE could bring joy to parents struggling to conceive. But on the flip side, tinkering with traits like eye color and intelligence feels like playing genetic roulette, tampering with nature or playing God. There's always the ethical side on this - moral/religious grounds.

I don't like this kind of technology. I think if we want to have a baby it is nice to be curious about how he or she will look like. Will he have the eyes of the mother or the eyes of the father and other features. I think it's like we are creating a doll and not a baby. It is not natural at all.

Thats true, the baby will be more of a living doll than a biological person.
