And POP Goes the Air Fryer

Last night I was in the kitchen making dinner when suddenly the air fryer made a loud popping sound and went off. It startled me and certainly not something I expected to happen
Thankfully the chicken was done and that the air fryer didn't blow out the circuit breaker or cause any problems. All I could think of was fire.
I'm afraid to plug it back in so now it's going out for the trash.
We have a small air fryer that we used to use so we took that back out and will use it until we can figure out what kind and when to buy a new one.
Since we use the air fryer nearly every day this small one will only work for a short amount of time. We really need a bigger one.
Anyway, that's my saga for today

I've had mine for awhile and it doesn't surprise me that they don't have a long life span

@Marilynda1225 The fact is that people tend to use the air fryer to cook almost everything. There are things that wear out air fryers, like cheese and raw veggies.

@LadyDuck I didn't know that cheese and raw veggies can cause a shorter lifespan for air fryers. I don't do much cheese but I do cook lots of raw veggies in it

I don't know if it was the fan (could be) but the best I can describe the sound was a popping. It smelled a little but I really think the air fryer just gave up the ghost. I was surprised that whatever happened didn't blow the circuit and ruin the outlet.

It really depends on what you want to cook. I use mine a lot for baked potatoes, chicken (roasted or tenders) and basically anything that isn't fatty or will splatter.

I am glad that it didn't do any harm to you or to your home. I know my adult children love their air fryers. I do not have one, there is simply no room in my kitchen for it, and I don't think I would use it much. So I just stick to basics for now.

Years ago my daughter bought one on a whim and we love it. I use it practically every night fior dinner and it saves heating up the whole kitchen when the oven is on. I do agree that it takes up valuable counter space

@MarieCoyle since there's only 2 of us putting the oven on for a small amount of food doesn't make sense.

I think that it's neat that it doesn't heat up the kitchen. That's one of the big plus points of having one.

I got a coupon for a free bag of air fried kettle chips, so I used it today. Meh... chips need to be fried in oil.
