Bread-and-butter pudding with a difference

A friend whose house we minded some time back, the ones with Dixie the dog and Jimmy the cockatoo, has been saving me the twine from hay-bales. I make mats out of the string. We went there the other day to pick up the string and had a lovely lunch with them. We had pumpkin pie with a tossed salad, then a bread-and-butter pudding but with a difference. Instead of bread, she’d cut up croissants and added blueberries. It was a really simple yet very enjoyable meal. I thought using croissants instead of bread was a really good idea. The photo is of Jimmy.

Love the shot of Jimmy. Croissants are so delicious all by themselves and the pudding you described sounds super delicious.

It was very enjoyable. It's an old-style pudding but the croissants made it even more enjoyable.

The pudding was a cheap dessert once - just stale bread, milk and eggs. And maybe sultanas added.

@Hannihar Dried sultana grapes but not as dry as raisins which are also dried grapes.

When I was sent to summer camp, lo these many eons ago, the camp cook used leftover toast from breakfast to make the bread pudding for dessert. It was the first time I'd ever had bread pudding, and really liked it.

When I was a child, it was seen as a good way to use up stale bread. Sultanas are often added too.

He doesn't talk except when they take him to their beach house. Then he says 'hello' to anyone walking past.

Jimmy looks cute ! Good that you enjoyed the meal. Any picture of the meal? I always hear about Pumpkin Pie but have never tasted the same.

We didn't take a photo. This pie was a bit like a quiche but with pumpkin added. I'm not sure it's like an Amercian pumpkin pie. I've heard a lot about them too.
