Alesma Sure they can be. I have no issues with this. But this, I think, should not change the fact that the rich could pay more from their income, at least those not involved in charitable activities.

Alesma In my opinion, if you are rich, you do not realize how difficult life can be with average or below-average incomes. Therefore you cannot rely on their sympathy with people from lower strata. Sure not all rich people have the same attitude or outlook on life....

Alesma The more you have, the more you can contribute and vice versa. Does it make sense? I think so. I do think it is fair to the intent that the rich can do without a bit more money without any problems.

Alesma It is impossible to make all inhabitants equal when it comes to their wealth. There will always be the poor and the rich, but there should not be a huge gap between them.

Alesma Yes, I agree. The fact that they can afford to pay more is a kind of mystery for me when I hear someone complain that they have to pay more. People should not be greedy misers.
