how can i dectet a virus mail?

once i happend to open a mail in my pc..and it destroyed many documents...i wish to escape from this problem next time.. i am using the norton antivirus.

anirudhan for clarifying my discussion i am saying these words again...to beg for love means not to beg physically or expressively using words...but to behave so..to expect love from the other..and waiting for getting love from the other...almost 90% of human relation...
