bigdog57 Yea w3Schools.com is probably the best start for beginners. When you will be advanced I suggest http://net.tutsplus.com/ there many tips and tutorials about HTML, CSS, JavaScript and there are many good teachers, who teach new techniques and much more

bigdog57 Programming Windows Fifth edition by Charles Petzold is probably the best book about Win32 API. It is Holy Bible for every programmer in Win32 API :)
