deirdrex08 The intention is noble. Whether this will work or not, it depends on the implementation. I wish we had that here in the Philippines. We don't have laws here like that. Not even laws on buying alcoholic beverages. Maybe there is but probably not implemented....

devilangelo well . it doesnt matter .. whether the minimum age is 16 or 18 . coz . kids will still find a way .. to buy ciggrattes.. wot needs to be done is to educate the kids bout the harmful effects .. need is for public awareness

MarkyB21 I guess only time will tell. But I agree that increasing the minimum age by a couple of years won't make it much harder for an under-age child who still wants to smoke.

Darkwing My honest opinion is that it won't work, I'm afraid. Ok, a lot of youngsters realise the dangers of smoking, but those who still choose to smoke, will still do so. Let's face it, when they were under sixteen they got people to go and purchase their cigarettes....

StrawberryKisses I think this is a good idea. We here in canada have had the minimum age at 19 in some provinces and 18 in others. For kids who don't have people that will buy them it's good because then they won't have a choice but to not smoke. Lots of children now a days...
