Do you think a Floppy Drive is necessary in a Computer any more?

With the advet of newer media like CD drives and flash drives, most manufacturers have dropped the floppy drive in new computers. Do you think the floppy should remain?

Phyrstorm flashing the bios, loading SATA drivers, and booting into the recovery section of the operationg system when the harddrive crashes.
