Movie or Book?

Which do you prefer? Reading a fantastic book or watching the movie adaptation of the book? Personally I feel the book is better in most cases as it is more descriptive but there are also many examples where the movie is way ahead...

jaishankar @Giridharan J,I would like to read the book first.Years ago I came to know about a Hindi movie based on a novel 'Godan' by the famous Hindi writer Pemchand.I read the novel first and then watched the movie.
