When do you let your kid walk to school by themself

I have a first grader who wants to act all grown up. We only live about 4 blocks from her school and she really wants to walk alone. I told her not until she turns 27!!! I know that I will have to let her go it alone at some point...

happypappy Little Momma, you're doing the right thing. A child that age has absolutely no business walking to school alone, no matter how short the route. We live in a country town, and every single child has to take the bus to the school outside of town, so no one here...
