any advice about the canon 50mm f/1.8 II? is it worth spending the extra cash to get the 50mm f/1.4? does the f/1.8 even last very long without falling apart? I've read reviews where people have had their f/1.8 break or completely...

johnny_storm i agree with kara! its not the sturdiest lens around but for its price, its worth it. you should get one :)
