pcsourcepoint As long as you have a good anti-spyware program and keep it updated, and do a manual scan frequently your computer should be relatively ok. I cleaned spyware from a friend's computer which disabled partially his desktop, because he did not have a anti-spyware...

santuccie No antispyware catches them all, just like no antivirus catches them all, and no firewall blocks them all. Most of today's nasties are Trojans, and a lot of them now use rootkits so your antivirus/antispyware can't see them. You might want to run BlackLight...

santuccie Are you talking about AVG AntiVirus, or Anti-Spyware (I'm assuming the latter)? Before its acquisition by Grisoft, AVG Anti-Spyware was called Ewido. It started life as a dedicated anti-Trojan scanner. It's classified as antispyware now, and does quite well...

santuccie I'm glad to hear you know your stuff, but it might help to make a recommendation on which firewall. Personally, I don't like relying on the HIPS or NIPS to protect you from everything. Even Comodo, Jetico, and Online Armor can only protect you if you correctly...
