What makes a person cheat?

don't want to sound really naive here. but Really, i mean why does a person actually cheat? how does it start? any ideas as to how it triggers or begin? any thoughts on how to prevent it?

meimei10 i guess some people cheat because of the "thrill" that comes along with it. i guess their expectations aren't met and may find it with another person. it's a kind of self-centered perception. so sad but true.

meimei10 my last relationship was a mess too. he cheated on me with my close friend. which really hurt me a lot. but eventually i moved on and i'm now happy with my new bf. still, i do wanna know the reason why men/women cheat when they know exactly that it is wrong...

meimei10 if a person cheats because something is missing in the relationship. why cheat? why not just immediately end the relationship instead of prolonging it and make it complicated in the end.
