There are many women that are with men that have kids from a previous relationship. Some think it would be highly inappropriate for their partner to buy a gift for their ex on mothers day. Personally, i don't see an issue with it...

PLETHOS @mitchii - i think i had a glitch. if they still get along and she is taking care of the child, it shouldnt be a problem. especially when your in a relationship knowing he has an ex with a child between them.
