How can a security officer keep alertness during wee hours of the morning

Night shift security officers are usually caught sleeping during 0200H to 0400H. What effective ways have you implemented to prevent such incident?

mvpvteye thank you for your ideas. although some of them may result to a penalty for the security officer and some will render him complacent and not alert.
