Birthdays are typically once-a-year affairs except for those born in a leap year. I remember when I was young, my parents would always get a cake for me. We will stick in some candles, sing the birthday song, and then blow them...

Darkwing Yes, I still have cakes on my birthday, baked by my daughter-in-law's fair hands. They insist on putting candles on it, but I don't believe in wishing whilst blowing out candles, because my beliefs tell me you should never blow out candles, as it blows away...
