Time to change the gun laws, after the massacre in Virginia

I have been thinking about this all morning, seeing the dreadful images on television and in the papers. Over 30 innocent lives brutally stolen by one maniac and his guns. I am asking this here, and particular of US citizens around here about now,
You have the right to bear arms. You can buy guns over the counter in the shops.
You can carry a handgun in your bag or purse.
You have guns for "your own protection"
In the light of the terrible events unfolding in Virginia, I would ask, is it time the gun laws were changed?
