Have you heard of this before? I knew about the cucumbers but not the tea?Your ticket to great skin: cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and now -- green tea?
Maybe so. Cell studies suggest that the polyphenols in green tea could help revive aging skin cells and even aid in wound healing. Try this quick green-tea fix for tired skin.
Quick Tea Fix
For a green-tea face refresher, soak a cotton ball in green tea (cooled to room temperature), and swab it over your face. Apply antioxidant-rich moisturizer, place cucumber slices over your eyes, and lie down for 15 minutes. Voila -- you've got an instant skin pick-me-up.
Safety First
But hold on! Before applying green tea to your face, test your skin's sensitivity to it. Dab a small amount behind your ear and wait 24 hours to make sure your skin doesn't react.

I had heard about it. In fact, Green tea extracts appear to sooth skin of patients following radiation treatments. Green tea's antioxidant property is key to its skin-protective qualities. Antioxidants are those agents which can counteract the effects of oxidant radicals. Oxidant radicals or free radicals, as they are commonly called are byproducts of the body that can cause damage to cells and tissues. Antioxidants bind to the free radicals, deactivating them before they can cause harm.

I have heard that green tea has a lot of benefits, fortunately it is one tea I like so I drink one very large cup every day, usually for dessert after supper. I am a coffee drinker the rest of the time. I have never thought to use it as a topical agent for skin, but maybe it will work. It is certainly a cheaper and easier alternative than using all the cremes and chemicals for our faces.

I've not heard of that one - will need to try it. I need all the help for aging skin cells that I can get!
Not a big fan of drinking green tea (or any herb or fruit tea for that matter) but I know it's supposed to have a lot of beneficial properties. Unfortunately I prefer the more traditional tea that comes loaded with caffeine!

Green tea is a natural antioxidant. It's not only good for your skin because it prevents natural aging without chemical treatment, it is also helpful in preventing cancer. It is proven that the Japanese have less cancer and longer lives overall, because they eat more fish and drink more green tea, as well as eating large quantities of rice.

I also wanted to add that the skin care company "Wei East" has an entire green tea line from an amazing cleanser to body moisturizers to face creams...my mother has gotten this many times from HSN and loves her products. I completely forgot about it, so I guess the cosmetic company has known about the effects of green tea being used topically for a while now, I think it's great:)
