In the University system of education especially in Africa - Nigeria, lecturers tend to withhold substantial information from the students. They only come to the class and summarize their topic for the day and off, they go. The students are left in confusion and to research without understanding what they should research. At the end of the session or semester, the lecturers will set exams based on the sylabusses used which they did not use and complete. THey will set exams on topics they didn't teach. Their expectation is to get money from students so to give the students scores if they don't pass the exams. How do you see and how would you evaluate this problem because it is a problem? Please comment on this.

My professors treat their students well. We are taught what we need to know to do our jobs well and be good members of society. They don't baby their students. The tests aren't always easy but the professors give student the information they need to know and is on the test.

I go to the University of Toronto. Here we have very similar problems, but they are caused more by laziness. For example, I will have a class which because of its size will be broken into 4 seperate classes. The problem is, that each one will be taught be a different person. They will teach different things, go at different paces and explain contradictory expectations. Then, the one labelled as the course co-ordinator makes the tests. Then the people not in their lecture don't do as well, but since it averages out well, they are happy and leave it alone. U of T Sucks.
