What is your take on Adoption?

I know in the world there are many children available for adoption. In my home country the children available for adoption would come from a sad background or be disabled. Sibling groups they try to keep together nowadays which I think is important. The American celebs want to adopt poor children from Africa or Asia. Then their kindness is what they show to their fans in the world. I believe adoption is a last chance for many children and it gives them a happy future. I don't believe in abortion and I think adoption lets the baby live and not die.

I'm not sure how far youve researched the adoption process. I'm from Canada and I can tell you that based on what I have learned here, it seems EASIER to adopt overseas, internationally than it does in my own country. I can't imagine it's much different in the US. Last year in my province there were 26 healthy infants adopted out. 26 out of a population of 6 million! There are hundreds to thousands of waiting families. When they say there are many children waiting for homes, they are meaning, I'm sorry to say, those children that are considered "unadoptable" (not my word, I'm just repeating what I said) meaning the older children (over 8 yrs old) who have major psychological and maybe physical damage and will require extra special care that most average everyday people are not trained to provide. At least that's how it is here.

I feel they same way as you.Why are we going overseas to adopt? I have found out it is very hard to adopt American Children and that it takes a long time.But you would think that with the money and popularity that celebs have that this would be easy.My husband and I wanted to adopt American but were told it would take years and years.Now we are considering becoming foster parents.
