UGH! I have been trying to get rid of these annoying things for 3 years and I am having NO luck! I dig them up (Not an easy task...the roots are about the size of a small child!!!) and they just come back. I can't use anything to dig them up other than a shovel cause they are right next to the house. There is a group of about 20 in a small space...anybody have any ideas???

You will have to dig them out. No other way around it. You can be lazy or do a crappy job because you know if you don't get them they will come back.
Round-Up weed killer will not do it. You have to remove the root. Since it is against a house it should be easy. Unless there is gravel in the soil. Then... Have fun. LOL
Also a perfect reason you shouldn't do landscaping or hire the cheapest landscaper. I warn clients about these problems before I plant something just because they want it or think it is maintenance free. Nothing is maintenance free.
I own a landscaping company and I have Yuccas in my yard. However they are contained in pots because I like to change my landscaping often.

Well this plant has been referred to as the anti-christ plant, so it must be stubborn to remove. I always thought i wanted one of these plants, but now after reading about how hard they are to remove I think I will stay away from them.
Here are the best suggestions out there, continue to dig and try to get the main roots. Once you think you have the main roots, spray with poison ivy killer and stump removal powder. New shoots may come back and if they do pull them up and immediately spray the poison ivy or round-up in the hole. Continue to do this everytime you see a new shoot. Over time you have the Yucca plants gone forever!
