Based on your family's own experiance, what do you think we should do to improve health care in America?

I hope that you don't mind me answering this. I am from the UK. I think health care is terribly expensive in the USA. I know when I travel there I have to buy travel insurance that will cover a very high medical bill if I need this. The same policy rate is charged for Canada. I know a British lady that came back to the UK to have her baby because she could not afford the medical bill in the USA. I have heard Americans usually have medical insurance in case they have an accident. I have been told even something like a broken leg can cost a great deal. If someone spends a week in hospital after having lots of complicated treatment the medical bill might be the same as the cost of buying a house. In the UK medical care is covered under the NHS (National Health Service). This is good for people that are ill and they just pay for any priscriptions. Many dentists charge and all opticans charge. I don't think health care could be improved in the USA but it could certainly be made cheaper.
