Book Name- The Spirits of the Trees" by DeLong Rice Copyright 1913

This neat little book was found in family belongings. Inside is written in pencil " Complements of the author "Shiloh Woods" 1914
Can anyone give me some insight about this book or why it may have been signed in this way?

DeLong Rice was my great-grandfather. He was the first superintendent of Shiloh National Military Park. If my family history is correct, Shiloh Woods was the name of his house. He also had another small book entitled "Scribblings on the Forest Floor" which was a book of poems. Hope this helps.
