The mother doesn't kill them at birth. That is an old wives tale. They are rare though. If a cat has more then two colors, usually called a calico, it's a female. Just how the system works for them. From what I understand if you do find male calico it's worth a lot of money because they don't happen in nature. I'm sure there is a scientific reason but I don't know what it is.

It's just simple genetics really. In simple, layman's terms as I understand it the gene(s) for the female gender just normally goes along with the gene(s) for calico. So where you find one you normally find the other.

I think a 4 colored male cat. He is black, grey, white and brown. He is a beautiful, sweet boy. His name is Monstro. He is really big too, lots of muscle on him. Is 4 colored better than 3 O.o

Hi Lizeri!
I own a cat with three colors but she is a female actually three-colored male cat can hardly be found because most of the three-colored cats are females.

Yeah, that's true. Actually, I just got the idea from my mom when we were looking for a kitten to adopt. The belief that you will have good luck when you have one is from Japan. And you will be luckier if you have that kind of cat who has a very short tail.

3 colored male cats are rare. In fact until now I haven't seen one yet. I have two 3 colored females. The mother cats killing them when they were born is not actually true from what I've learned.
