I do have depression. For a while I was taking Zoloft, but decided not to take it anymore because it was making me feel worse then I did when I didn't take it. So now I deal with it day by day. I threw myself into my faith and became active in church and God. That seems to help with feelings of worthlessness and unloveability because I'm worth something to God.

Yes, I am depressed right now.Do I suffer from depression, no, I do not think so. I am actively seeking appropriate solutions to the things that depress me, and I try to eat right and get an adequate amount of sleep. I take my vitamins. I am fighting depresssion by talking to my old friends and making new ones. Are you suffering from depression?

Yes I suffer from depression on a daily basis, anyone who suffers from it can tell you that living daily is a big struggle. I was on Zoloft for 6 years and recently stopped taking it because I found that it just doesn't work like it used to. At the moment I am not taking any medication for my depression and I've never tried the counseling thing.

I have sufferred from depression for about.............. my whole life. I have been on Prozac for years now, but have tried a lot of other anti-depressants too. This just seems to be the best of the bunch.
I really hate being on anti-depressants because I feel like they rob me of so much. Like sexuality, excitement, creativity, enthusiasm etc.Without them though, I probably wouldn't be here.I've often thought that I should try some naturopathic medicines or something besides medication, but when I try to go off of the medicine, I get so sad and angry and just plain nutty that my family complains (a lot).
My sister was diagonsed bi-polar and I suspect that my father and brother are too. I have tried counseling, but I didn't feel any real help there. I really would like to find an answer for this problem though. It's horrible and debilitating.

Have you tried any of the newer anti-depressents that have come out in the past few years? They have a lot less side effects. I was on Lexapro for years and had gotten to the point that I just felt like I didn't feel things at all. I felt like a zombie sometimes. I've switched to Cymbalta and I can feel again, but I'm not depressed. I don't have any side effects at all that I can tell. It might not work for you, but if you haven't tried any lately, you might talk to your doctor about trying a newer one.

That is a good idea. I wonder why my doctor hasn't suggested it. I have been there a lot lately talking about how tired I am and a bunch of other stuff that she chalks up to pre-menopause. I wouldn't mind trying other things if it could make me feel like I have a chance of having a life again.

Have you tried eating organic foods? Give that a try and I guarantee you'll see improvement. There is so much junk in the foods that are on our store shelves and going organic is definitely the way. Those foods have not been processed and still retain all the natural elements (minerals, nutrients) that our bodies need to function correctly.

I hope those folks who are suffering are taking St Johns Wort which is an all-natural mood regulator.
Everyone, please stay off the Paxil, Prozac, Zoloft, Wellbutrin, Cymbalta, and all that other junk. It will make you more ill, and has side effects which your doctor will prescribe yet another pill for. Before you know it, you're taking a handful of prescription meds a day and that's no way to live.
Go herbal!

St. Johns Wort will help in some cases of mild depression, but unfortunately in most cases of true clinical depression it seldom does the job. SSRI's can be lifesavers in these cases, however. Major depression is nothing to play around with. One should never go off of their medication without doing so under their doctor's supervision.

Yes, I do. I'm getting counseling and taking Cymbalta. I've fought it off and on for years, but I finally feel like it's under control now. I feel great!

I have been on Lexapro for nearly 2 years now. My best friend was diagnosed with terminal cancer and I was really having a difficult time with this. Now that I have moved to a better place I have begun to ween myself off it. I do not like to be dependant on medication.

I was on Lexapro for about that same amount time. I'm happy you are able to ween yourself off of it. I was in the process of weaning off when I had something else occur and had to go back on it. I've switched to Cymbalta now and hope that I can wean off of it before too long. Like you I don't like being dependent either.

Yes. I think most people do. Depends on how we handle the deppression we suffer.

I think you may be confusing depression and sadness. Most people do suffer from brief periods of sadness, especially after something bad has happened. What I'm asking about is depression -- clinical depression, which lasts for long periods of time. I don't think that most people do suffer from that.
