Yes it can be rightly categorized as a relationship because relationship is defined as social associations, connections or affiliations between two or more people who may interact overtly, covertly, face to face or may remain effectively unknown to each other such as those in virtual community who maintain anonymity and do not socialize outside of the chat room. So the one where the means of communication is via the telephone is in my own opinion and in conjunction with the aforementioned definition of the term is rightly called a relationship.

i wouldnt consider it a relationship. although ive known people in my life who claims to be in a relationship but never ever met them.i mean, how can you love someone you never even met?
