Yes, I was beat as a child but it was NOT my fault.
And I ended up being taken away from my parent and put in foster care...moving from home to home until all was settled.
And when I say I was beat...it translates to having black and blue marks from the back of my neck down to my ankles. And I also had dried blood on my clothes when I took them off. But I never saw it myself. I walked in a haze for days.
So, be careful what you ask....you might be surprised with the answer.

Sorry to hear that. A child shouldn't experienced anything like that. Have you ever thought, maybe by having things happen to you as a child, made you become who you are today? Maybe stronger, more compassionate, understanding?

Definitely, I am a huge believer that what one experiences in life effects who they become.
Because of my experience, I know I am a more compassionate parent. I do not use hitting as form of reprimand. Unfortunately, no everyone turns out that way.
I have read that some that are abused grow up and become abusers.
So, I guess I am one of the lucky one's that was able to get out of the situation and learn from it.
Many things in my life has made me who I am today.
And please forgive me if I do not explain myself well at times. I suffer migraines and something it effects my words.
But you are right. It has made me a more compassionate, stronger, and understanding person. :)

i used to have to kneel on my knees as well but with my arms up in the air to make it harder. i also used to get hit by a woden spoon from the kitchen. they broke it on me a few times. also with my step dad's hand and fist. my mother hit me with a metal coat hanger once cause that's what she had in her hand at the time.

Ouch, you had it bad. I only had to kneel without the hands in the air thing. What's up with step dad's hitting... That's just not right.

I was given the odd smack when I did something wrong and didn't respond to yelling / normal punishment, but nothing out of the ordinary.
I certainly wasn't beaten up, in fact, if other kids tried to beat me up I'd fight back and usually win, I was quite the little tomboy!

Cool. I think it's ok to fight back, as long as you're not the one that started it.
