Yesterday I posted a discussion on the health of your tongue. Specifically it related to colour. The response has been very good with many interested people. I promised that I would the next part, on the coating of your tongue.
So here goes:
The tongue's coating is a layer of "moss" or "fur" about the size of a 50cent piece (aussie coin), in the middle of the tongue's suface, and it's a good indicator of the state of your stomach & spleen.
*WHITE
A thin white or clear coating indicates good health. If the coating is thick & white, you may have digestive problems or a cold or flu.
* YELLOW
Greasy food, alcohol, coffee, chili or spicy food may be the cause. Or it could be a sign of the accumulation of toxicity in the body often associated with food poisoning, infalamation or infection, such as eczema, bronchitis, irritable bowel syndrome or constipation.
*GREY, BROWN or BLACK
This can be an indicator for any kind of infection, too much smoking or the use of antibiotics.
My coating is a little too thick, but it's whitish. I do have a mild infection at the moment so that could be why,.

this is very true. i have a lung disease and it shows my tongue always yellow. sometimes more, sometes less. so i have the indicater, when i need to take more oxygen, because i cant breathe out right. so sometimes i get totally poisoned and not much oxyen in my blood. i had to learn this, to be able to stay at home and not permanently in hospital. our tongue is a very good sign for different issues. thank you for this discussion

I thought my tongue had a white coating, so I just looked in the mirror to check. It's yellowish. I just drank a cup of coffee, so maybe that's why. I'm going to keep an eye on it. I've been told I have a geographical tongue, where there are clear spots on my tongue with no coating. It's been like that as long as I can remember.

The coating of my tongue is white but rather thick, I have chronic digestive problems so I suppose it´s due to that.
I knew that our tongue is an indicator of our health, but not that it could reveal such precise information.
Thanks very much for Tongue (Part 2). It´s as interesting as (Part 1)
Very good post.

These good to know health tips as we all remember the first thing the doctor used to ask was stick out your tongue. I'm happy to say that I have the thin white layer (even although I am a smoker). Thanks Jenny
