Two child policy

Do you think that the proposal of two children in a family be ratified? There are a lot of legislators who believe that two children in a family will cause that family to lead a quality life. They believe that the children will be sent to school, will be fed well and there will be less problems because that family's population can be managed well. What can you say about this?

In my opinion it is not really good policy and how I wish it will not ratified. Yes, it may provide quality of life to the family but this is not the absolute solution for the quality life. I do not want this policy to be ratified for the reason that I do not want that policy will dictate the number of children they want. Let us give them the freedom to decide and not because of policy. Family planning is just enough.

Is it possible for the government to control how many children you have? There is no form of birth control that works everytime. What happens to the parents if they "accidentally" have more than two children? Would they be punished, put to jail, or pay a fine? China has a one child policy to control their population's growth. Consequently, they practice forced abortions, sterilizations and even infanticide to implement this policy. Would the Philippine government resort to these practices? I don't think so.

Hi! Thanks for your response. Right now there's a proposal lodged before Congress. It's a bill proposing the two-child policy. So far it's on its 2nd reading.

nobody has the the right to dictate the number of children one family could have. i want at least three and i know i can give a good life to that number of children.
if for example that policy is ratified, will mothers like me who would bear a third child be punished? will i be jailed? i'm doing my very best to provide for my family and at the same time pay my taxes. these lousy legislators should focus on creating laws that can help alleviate poverty, and just stop pestering innocent taxpayers.

I think this will greatly help the families in the society to give their children a quality life. But I don't think this must be done drastically as what has been done to another country. The government must have a thorough and meticulous plan to properly implement this. As we know, this proposal would gain a lot of media exposure since this is against the church' doctrines. If they really are keen to do this, they must look into all possible loopholes and downsides so as to avoid problems in the future.

I think in practice two is a good number and you can give a lot more both materially and time wise to two than you can to four or six or whatever. The problem is when people are told, 'sory, only 2.' I wouldn't want to have to be the one enforcing or breaking that policy.

i have heard this kind of policy being implemented in China, they had this one-child policy before but i think they removed that now... as for the philippines, i think the two-child policy is ok but i prefer three-child policy... this will definitely receive various reactions from the public plus i think the implementation of this policy would be difficult especially in squatters, poor areas and far provinces...

That may sound new to us Pinoys having a two-child policy and with the catholic teaching that even forbids the family planning methods of controlling or avoiding having a child is difficult would you think the catholic church would agree to this proposal. I guess one of the basic rights a married couple is to have children and so far we do not have laws that limits every couple to have children. The question re: this proposal is what will the government do if people would opt to have more children than what is limited what would the state do? Penalize these people? It is likely that those who bore more children do belong to the poor sector a few rich and wealthy people are not into having too many children. You will just burden the poor sector than helping them.

Another stupid proposal by our educated legislators. The two-child policy will never be ratified; in fact, it will never go through the first reading at Congress. Why? because it stifles a person's freedom to do anything that he or she wants. And having two children does not guarantee that a couple will have a good life. There are many families that have multiple children and are doing fine. On the other hand, there are even childless couples who are struggling to make both ends meet.

i would definitely support this policy. i think it can greatly help solve the problems in the philippines..
sometimes when i'm driving by the streets, i see homeless people.. really young couples having 3 or four children: eg. two children are following the mother, mother is carrying a baby, at the same time mother is pregnant.. those kind of situations..
i just pity the children. and i really don't understand why these people/parents continue to have children despite the fact that they have no home, they have a meager income (most probably from begging) and they have trouble eating 3 meals a day.
so if this policy would push through, a positive change (hopefully) would be brought about..
