Okay moms! Which baby products did you find you couldn't live without? I had such a hard time when I was registering for baby products. I didn't know what would prove useful or useless. I thought it would be nice to generate a list for other confused first time moms. I personally have found that I cannot survive without 1. a wipe warmer, the shock of a cold wipe would make my daughter cry. 2. my infantino front carrier, i tried the sling but she hated being on her back! I think being against your chest hearing your heartbeat reminds them of where they lived for 9 months! 3. diaper genie diaper pail, the bags smell great and whisk away those stinky diapers!

I never used any of those things you mentioned. They seem like a waste of money to me and since I didn't get a baby shower with any of my 4 kids we had to buy everything ourselves. The things we really used a lot was the pack n play (our 4th is now using it) and swing and the carseat (but we had 3 kids right in a row) and the clothes. We never had a changing table (you can change them on the floor). We didn't get a crib until our oldest was 7 months and since we had 3 kids in a row the older one had to move out as soon as possible so the baby could use it. But none of our 4 children every used it as a newborn. The high chair got a lot of use. Diapers get thrown in the kitchen garbage that gets taken out pretty much every night. So I'd say the one item we couldn't live without was the swing.

I aree that the money is probably a waste. I prefer to get all of my items at a consignment shop, I swear by those stores! Everything new I received were as gifts. The crib my uncle bought for me is great too because it's a conversion crib. It goes from a crib to a day bed to a full sized bed. And the instructions are stapled to one of the main boards you use for all of the beds so you don't lose how to change it into each of the beds. It's beautiful and functional too!

We bought our crib on sale at Babies R Us and it has gotten used well. It was in constant use from February 2001 until August 2006. It converts to a toddler bed so when our 3rd was 2 1/2 we took the moveable side off. She used it until she was almost 4 and we got new beds for the girls (from Ikea--they are really cool). I was hoping our newest baby would use the crib but the other kids broke it so it is just sitting in the girls room. Sometimes my son sleeps in it but they tore the mattress all up. The baby will probably use it once she is big enough for a toddler bed (next year I assume). She sleeps in the pack n play right now.

i would have to say the pack n play and the swings were a life saver to me especially when i had my twins.with my first son,it wasnt to bad but he loved the jumperoo.it kept him so busy which gave me a little break,on the other hand with the twins it was the swings.because they just wanted to cry at the same time and it drove me nuts,so i would put them in the swings and they would stay quiet for at least a hour.which was great.but the pack n play was great when we travel to granmas or nanas house.it was a must have.

I was looking into getting a jumperoo as my daughter does not sit still. We own just about everything else though so I'm trying to decide if she REALLY needs it. Haha.

i didn't use the wipe warmer for long cause it dried out the wipes on the bottom part from the warming plate and it's a lot of waste for the wipes. i can't live w/o disposable wipes and diapers, baby bouncer seat - for times you want to work around the house and you can watch the baby at the same time. the crib is still sitting in the baby's room alone (he's 5.5 mos now) - i used the bassinet for the first few weeks so i can position it beside the bed and i can easily reach for the baby and i can listen to him breath (was scared of SIDS). now i put him to bed in the regular bed w/ pillows on both his side and when he can already roll then i will use the crib (can be converted to toddler bed later on). there's no need for changing table for us too - babies outgrows them fast - but i do have a changing pad and i just used in on the floor/bed/dresser/anywhere.

Yes, I was confussed to. Let me see I could not live without 1.) my travel bassinet/playpen 2.)the bouncy seat 3.) the diaper pail 4.) and my humidifer. These are the uncommon things that I could not live with out. Advice to all moms to be if you are to get a wipe warmer get a really nice one and not a cheap one. The one I got dried all of my wipes out so i do not use it.

I am a first time mom and the things that make life easier for me and my baby is having her swing, her hamper and the baby bag. I also stack up on everything that she needs. I think the best product is her Johnson to Johnson baby products, lotions, shampoo, body wash because it is sensative on her skin and it also helps so it dont hurt her eyes when it goes over her little cute face. I cant use any other brand of diapers except for pampers....luvs gave her horrible rahes and I didnt know it was the diaper until someone told me to try a different kind. And that was that. I could live without these things. She loves her swing and she also loves her bath time so I think Im set with just the simple things.

I couldn't live without a safety bathtub. It is just so hard to wash an infant in a bathtub. The bath grows with them well into toddler years. These are great!! A play pen. Play pens are awesome, to set the baby in while you are doing something. A exersaucer. The baby's love this. A carrier. Its hard to do some things while holding baby. A carrier is great for this.

I love the portable swings. They are awesome. My son loved his swing and we went to grandmas house a lot for family get togethers and I'm glad I was able to just drag the swing everywhere I went. The swing even worked miracles at home, like if I had to do the dishes or something, like shower, I could carry the swing all over and he would just sit in his swing and watch his lights and just swing away. I loved it. I also like the bottle warmers. I hate using the microwave or the stove. I just wish I would of had the baby wipe warmer. I never thought to think that wipes were cold on him and that could of been why he cried. DUH... Thanks though. Now I know. :)

I wish I still had a little one, but all of mine are not babies any more, But I would say that I really appreciated having recieving blankets and cloth diapers, (the cloth diapers make great burb cloths,) and I liked to wrap my babies in the baby blankets so they would stay warm. The other things I really liked were disposable diapers, and baby wipes, they did not have to be warmed up, just handy, And I really used the baby brushes a lot all of my kids had a lot of hair. Anyway, I always wanted one of those baby carriers maybe if I ever have another baby I will get one of those,

Hello. I am not a mother. I am father. And my two children are grown up. So, baby products are not of actuality anymore in our family. Except! I am working in very harsh conditions with an extreme high temperature and rough climate. I have been suffering for years from heat rashes and never found somethings that suits me to "relieve" them. A few years ago, somebody told me to use baby powder. The one you use to put on the baby's "bum" once it has made its "business". And I tried and it is perfect.

I think the only thing i couldnt have gone without was my daughters dummy, or pacifier. I swore i would never use one with her, but then i felt bad when she started sucking the edge of a blanket, a dummy soothed her so quickly and she looked so content. I might regret it however when it comes to taking it away from her! i also couldnt of lived without her travel cot, its a god send when i want a shower or 5 minutes to hoover, i just unfold it, put her in it with a few toys and shes instantly happy! I refused to put her in her own cot during the day, so she'd know the difference between day and night and would know when it was time to sleep, this is also why the travel cot comes in to good use, she can have a quick nap in there! Good thinking for the list though, when i was a new mum i was grateful of any help or advice :)

I personally found the diaper genie to be a waste. I didn't really use it that often. I found trial size items such as baby powder, baby wipes, etc...to be a godsend! I know it sounds silly, but I have 3 kids and being able to pack a diaper bag and fit some of my other kids stuff in it too is awesome. I have all sorts of crazy trial size things in my sons bag, and I keep them in there so then I don't have to "repack" a bag everytime I need to go someplace. I also keep sample packets of baby wash, rash cream, etc... in there in case there is a spur of the moment overnighter!

bouncy chair - these chairs are wonderful!
For me, having a bouncy chair was a lifesaver! We bought a Fisher Price one that had a vibrating seat and it would just put my son right to sleep. On nights when he was sick and fussy, he would actually sleep in the chair instead of his crib, since it was the only way the three of us could get some shut-eye! That bouncy chair was so handy, I would take him outside in it while I hung laundry, he´d sit in it while I did chores or watch me cook. It was also his first high chair since we didn´t have one and he started to eat at 4 months! It broke when he was 9 months old, but by then he could sit on his own, so it wasn´t such a big deal.

I hated my diaper geinie. I couldn't stand to empty it! It totally grossed me out. Instead I had a seperate garbage can in the garage where I would throw the diapers away. This would keep the stink out of the house. I loved the baby swing and the exersaucer. These two items are good for entertaining the baby during busy times~ like getting dinner ready. I never had a wipe warmer, but that sounds like a treat for the baby:)
