why do most filipino mylotters have pictures of celebrities as their avatars? i noticed that most filipino here on mylot use pictures of celebrities here in our country as their main picture/avatar. and i also noticed because of that, they have more friends/responses to their discussions compared to those who don't have celebrity picture posted on their profiles. now, i don't wanna sound jealous or envious because of that. all i am saying is if you are really proud to be filipino, then why not show it to the world.

maybe they're posting celebrity pictures because it represents them the best, or it could be that they idolize that person so badly that hey have already incorporated it as a part of their profile. responses to them could be attributed to the fact that their posts are related to their avatars, which could mean that many people relate well to the posts.

really? i didn't notice. mine is just pa-cute, not my photo but not the photo of a celebrity also. and there was one from here who said she responds usually to discussions posted by people with avatars that she finds cute. not that you don't look cute in your photo, though......

I guess some people, not really just Filipinos, use pictures of celebrities as their main picture. Maybe it's just because they really admire the person that they chose to be on their main pic, right? I mean, if they didn't think that celebrity was pretty or handsome, why in the world would they choose to upload the pic. But think about this, the mere fact that they are writing in this site is proof that they are proud to be Filipinos!

I am filipina but i don't use picture of celebrities on my avatars.
Maybe its their strategy to earn more points or to be noticed, we really dont know or maybe they really really like the celebrities they have used as their avatars. Just my POV

uhmm.. it is not that i am not proud of what i am or they are not proud of what they are, it is mainly because they like that picture to become their avatar maybe for a reason that they idolize that person in the picture, or it symbolizes them, like my avatar, he is chester bennington, i like him because of his songs, he is my idol.. it is not because we wanted to have more responces.. because responces comes from the topic not from a picture... may i ask you, do you responce to a topic by only looking to their pictures? i guess not..

Those are pictures of celebrities? I thought mylot was just full of beautiful plastic people! Kidding, kidding. You're right. I'd rather just have an object or a picture of a pony jumping over a rainbow or something if I didn't want to use my own pic. I don't want people to like me for the wrong reasons. I guess the difference is some people post here to make money while others do it for respect and advice. I do it for both and I have my scary mug right here to back up what I say!

There maybe alot of reasons behind it. I have also noticed that before, but then I ignore them for some time. There maybe some of our country fellowmen who don't feel comfortable showing their own picture. Another possible reason is, this picture they have used as an avatar was the person they admire most. Or if not, maybe they don't have any other available picture to use. Let's wait for their response here. Goodluck!
