hi! the star stands for a rating here in mylot. it can be from 0 to 10, with 10 being the highest.
when a mylot user reaches 100 posts, he/she will automatically get a star rating. that is your mylot reputation. (everybody will get it as long as you reach 100 posts. right now you have 92 posts.) this reflects how other users rate the quality of the discussion you started, as well as the responses and comments you provide in others' discussions.
in every discussion, response or comment, you will see +, -, ! rating. those are used by mylot users to rate your posts. if you give quality posts, mylot users will rate you positively. negative, if your post is not relevant, useful or meaningful. they will report your post as abusive (!) if they find that you violated mylot rules.
if you haven't been doing that, it is a good practice to rate other users as well.
goodluck and enjoy mylot. please ead Mylot Guidelines and FAQs to help you be guided. hope this helps! :)

I really suggest reading the mylot guidelines they have here on the site. It tells you all about what you canNOT post, what you can post, and about payment information, star ratings, and such. Also, you can search the toolbar mylot has here, because numerous users have asked the same questions you are. So by looking at these discussions you can see all the answers people gave, thereby figuring all this stuff out. : )
