I got 6 notifications yesterday of discussions opened by someone on my friends list as I did not have time yesterday I looked at them today and every one had been deleted and they were all jokes. I checked the profile and the other discussion that she opened were still there so I had to assume it is a crackdown on jokes at least for this person as I think on Monday I saw she had posted abunch of jokes but I did not responde to but a couple of them. Has anyone else seen this happen.

ive lost a couple of credit points lost when ive responded to jokes. I dont think mylot likes them. A quality discussion should give the oppertunity to develop it, an exchange of jokes doesnt have a great deal of milage in it. Best avoid them is the advice i give

I hardly think they are deleting jokes. I get a bit miffed when people say we shouldn't be posting jokes and recipes because you can't respond to them...I don't see any problem.
There's also the fact that "jokes", "sharing jokes" and "cooking" all appear on the lists of interests. If they don't want us to post about these things why aren't the interests deleted?

I agree there should not be a section for jokes if they are against the "rules". I enjoy them and the reason for my post was because on this one member everyone of them had the blank page with the 2008 date.

There seem to be jokes from the same few people recently, and these jokes take up most of the list sometimes. I wonder if they are being deleted because it is deemed spamming. To be honest, though, I don't bother with recipes and the like, and I have only re sponded to a couple of jokes in the past, purely because I felt they actually deserved a response as they were very funny and were worded so a discussion could begin

I have a friend who said his account was removed for too many jokes. I think a joke can be a discussion, but it is not always. That is why I do read them, but do not often reply to them. They have to be set up in the form of a discussion for me to want to spend my time there. I do not like to see my responses deleted.

It could be that they are deleting them .. or maybe just those who post whole heaps of jokes all the time .. or they only post jokes. I have responded to a few jokes and now you have me thinking that I will have to check and see if they are still there .. or whether they have been deleted or not. That will be annoying if they have .. but will teach me not to respond to them as well.
I have seen some jokes which I think are a little bit inappropriate ... plus there was one discussion where someone started and named a person they said was doing a cut and paste of everything ... jokes, meanings and so on. Said this person had been reported to mylot ... so maybe that is what has happened. A few jokes shouldn't be a problem and nor should recipes ... as long as that is not what it is entirely about. Some people do go overboard with these things of course ... thinking if it is long then they will get more money for it but I am not sure that it works that way.
One of my friends made a comment in one of their discussions that they had a whole lot of responses to a serious discussion .. and the responses from quite a few people were all long jokes. So maybe some people abuse the system .. and get banned or have their posts deleted because of this.

I messaged Mylot about this a few weeks back, because I assumed joke posts are equivalent to plagiarism because they aren't in the person's own words and are generally copy and pasted from some other site. We could all sit here all day and do that and what would become of the quality of this forum. But, I wasn't quite sure if it was a violation because the rules are vague. I just figured it fell under no plagiarism rule.
Anyway, the feedback I received back is as follows:

I also responded to a few jokes which my friends had posted because I wanted to support them, but they were deleted by myLot. Some of them weren't even the short riddle type of thing, they were long and amusing but I guess it against the guide lines so now I don't respond to them.

I think they are. I've heard others say the same thing and I believe someone commented that MyLot said that Jokes were not what the site was for, they want discussions and conversations. Not sure though as who the heck ever knows from one minute to the next? LOL

Joke is not discusstion, it needn't been followed by posts, if lots of posts followed, it must be the spam as "LOL,haha, so interesting "etc...it will case lots of spams..so cherish your words, and give us your point of view..

I have been reading about this in a few different discussions and am assuming that yes, these joke topics are going to be deleted. It is a lot of lineage that generates very little 'discussing'. Because I now know that they will be deleted, or might be delted, I am steering clear of them. I'm sure if his is a new policy it will only be a matter of days before so many are deleted it will become common knowledge.
