News that the shooter listened to a certain song "shine down" by collective soul came out. Some are acting like this is some kind of clue to his intentions/inner thoughts/whatever. What does everyone else think of this song choice having anything to do with the tragedy at Virginia Tech?

People think this because research shows that a person's listening choices do indeed have an effect on their overall psyche. I am not familar with the song or with how often this person listened to it, but that would be why professionals are making this assumption. Besides the fact, they have little else to go on at this point, so they are trying to piece together why someone would do such a horrendous thing and have such a disregard for human life. I feel for all the families including his, but I don't feel for him and if that makes me a bad person, so be it. I hope this helps, it was a good question.

I've just looked up the lyrics - how could a song that's asking to find the love and light of Heaven remotly encourage somebody to kill people?
Collective Soul - Shine Lyrics
Give me a word
Give me a sign
Show me where to look
Tell me what will I find
Lay me on the ground
Fly me in the sky
Show me where to look
Tell me what will I find
Oh, Heaven let your light shine down
Love is in the water
Love is in the air
Show me where to go
Tell me will love be there
Teach me how to speak
Teach me how to share
Teach me where to go
Tell me will love be there
Oh, Heaven let your light shine down

yeah i know, thats the irony. its a spiritial based song.. but his roommates said he would just listen to it over and over again. weird. but i dont think its directly connected to the murders. probably just one of his odd habits. i thought it was an interesting song choice for someone who had to be that unstable.
