Bored at Work?

Are you bored at work or do you usually have a lot to do? I love my job but I rarely get work. I am a receptionist. They told me to just browse online or read books or magazines. I can only do so much. I need some work. I am a more hands on person. I have also went to them 3 times asking for work and no response. I get paid good money compared to my last job. Should I just suck it up and just continue doing nothing?

I am at work. I do actual work for about an hour after I get to work. That is when we do all the paperwork and stuff like that. Then at 6:20am we get the boys up for school. I work in a group home for troubled boys so it can be very interesting. This morning I have already been cussed out by a client since he had to take a shower.

You do some hard work. I commend you for helping these troubled boys try to get their life back.

I have the exact opposite problem that you have. The company that I work for used to have 2 supervisors, me and someone else. The other persona has since left the company, and I have the work of two people. On top of that I was told that my posision is being moved to another state, that I have no want to move to. So i have 500 things to do a day for a company that will not be there for me in a few months. I have found myself sucked into mylot hour after hour not really caring if the work gets done. i am a hard worker, and have never felt like this before, but I feel that I am losing out on so much that it is really killim me inside. i am also spending the time working on a job search to try to find something in my area.

Wow you have a lot on your hands. I couldn't imagine having to do all of that work and the company not be there soon. I hope that you can find a job that gives you work for just you and not two people and that they stick around.

Wow. What a gift? Things may change in time and you may become very busy. Why don't you utilize that time to learn a new skill?

If you want the money, yes! If it is bothering you morally or if you are feeling unused or wasted, like you are wasting your time, then look for another job while you are sitting there doing nothing. I would love to be free to surf the net or read mags whenever I want and get paid for it.

It is actually cool sometimes to just sit here and do whatever but after a while of surfing the internet and reading magazines or whatever gets a little tiring and I just want something to do. Thanks for replying.

I get bored at work when there is noone on my ride....if I get bored when there are then that would put peoples lives in danger & I don't want that on my head...so I usually just count the number of people I see walk past me & then try to see if they walk past again...it's hard trying to remeber if you have seen 1 person out of 1000 but hey at least it keeps my mind active so I don't fall asleep when I am working at 11pm
