Don't people understand what wrong number means anymore?

I just got a phone call, and the lady asked for Brenda. I told the lady she must have the wrong number. She then says do you know how I can get ahold of her. I told her I didn't know a Brenda.
Now if a Brenda had lived here I would have said she no longer lives here. I thought when you tell someone that they have a wrong number it means you don't know who they are calling for.
I guess I must be living in the wrong century.
What do you think?

Well usually when I say you must have the wrong number they will say they are sorry and hang up. I just couldn't believe she would ask me if I knew how to get a hold of the person. Guess she thought since I am from a smaller town I would know every Brenda.
Geez who knows what she thought.
Thanks for your response.

lol ~ this has happened many times before, they always seem to think that I am the phone company or something. Sorry can't help you. That is why I love the invention of Caller ID. Works wonders for numbers that I don't recognize. Everyone knows to start squawking when they call my house from a different number than their own. lol
I am a screener.

Well I knew I didn't recognize the number but decided to answer anyway. I have relatives in other parts of the state and don't always know their numbers off the top of my head.
Then it makes me mad when I let the machine pick it up and they won't leave a message :)
