March 27/07.A male went into a chatroom ,set up his cam,and told everyone he was going to chat for 2 hours and then commit suicide. This was a chatroom where the idea was to get everyone to take verbal shots at each other. As the time got close,he started setting up a rope for hanging.Plenty of people were edging/cheering him on.Long story short, after 2 hours he was dead.Red flag?Damn right.Yet we still figure someone is just kidding until it is too late. Not a very nice story, but a true one.First suicide while on cam in chatroom.

Thats scary. The scariest thing is no one could rush to his aid or to stop him or warn his friends or family, as we are all vrtual people when online to each other no matter how well we get to know each other over the net. Im glad I wasnt one of the chat room buddies that witnessed this. I think it would haunt me for life.
Whoever he was I hope hes at peace.

Until he finally did it,there was alot of edging him on but there were some who were supposedly screaming for him to stop.It was a person online who informed the police. The pain he was feeling was too much for him to bear.

That is very sad that people would cheer him on. As far as I am concerned that is heartless people. I don't care if they thought he was kidding or not. If I don't know the person I would assume that he was going to do it. I would do the best I could to find some way to find a way to get someone who could help him. I know that would be hard. But I definitely would not cheer him on. That is cold and heartless.

That is tragic, but people do not want to face reality. If you look at site like Youtube you can see how we have become so numb to these situations. We have a hard time seeing fiction from reality until it is to late, or we just do not wish to. I watched a show recently on TV on have people react to crime, a guy breaks into a car and 1 our of 10 people would call the police. The same guy break into a house (not his) and even tells the neighbors, still no one calls the cops. We live in a society were wish to stay in our world and are afraid to step in and help someone else in their world. To easy to sue, to easy to cause other problems so we just build up the walls and cheers. I am sorry to hear this has happen, I would have atleast tried to help, for everyone matters.

I happened to catch the same show and it seemed as long as he had a smile on and acted like he belonged, nobody paid any attention to what he said.It is so much easier to ignore any potential problem.

I am sorry to say the story is true.Sometimes we do not realize how we affect others with a word here or there until something like this happens. But on a brighter note,I see you are a new member of MyLot and want to welcome you to MyLot;a site that DOES pay its members. This program is a great way to learn and to share knowledge and experiences.

If you get a chance, hug a friend a day just to let them know someone out there cares.
