I am a cat person. I love dogs but since I am a renter I have made do with cats. I love them and am sure that they are very smart and know when I'm talking to them. I think they are too stubborn to do tricks. Dogs, on the other hand, is it that they are smart that they learn how to do tricks or is it that cats are too cool to do tricks? Or is it that dogs are smart enough to do tricks and cats just can't comprehend. I think cats are smarter.

I know this sounds funny but dog's are more education smarter and cat's are more street smart! Dogs will learn tricks and stuff faster and more easier than cats but cats just instinctively know what they're doing! You don't have to tell a cat or teach a cat to go to the bathroom outside, it just does it usually!

That is all true but when the burglar or rapist is attacked by the dog I know which one is the more valuable.

Oh yeah! I have cats AND dogs and I see how smart they all are in their own ways! Cats are very street smart! They have to be because there's so many dogs around in other backyards that they go through. My dogs love my cats!

Dogs are very smart they let their owners pamper them and reward them with security and love. Cats seem to make their owners work to much. Good work here in mylot my friend.

I really think that cats are smarter. A dog will do almost any thing to please it's master but a cat has us wrapped around it's tail. we own dog but cat own us. We jump at their command. Mine got shut in a bedroom the other day and when she was let out she let meknow she was not a happy camper. We keep them around when realy they are not worth any thing but to keep us company. As you said they won't do tricks. I think they could if they wanted to. My grandkids can sometimes get our cat to play fetch but only if she is in the mood. She will also speak when told too as she is petted but again only when she's in the mood.

I do believe that the cats do the adopting instead of us. I had a relative that tried to get rid of a tom cat years ago. They would keep taking hime to the country to dump him off but He kept coming back. They put him in a box and a sack so he couldn't see or feel where he was going but he liked them so much he just kept coming back to them until they gave up.

I agree, they’re both smart in different ways. But even though I’m not really into cats, I’m more of a dog person, I’ve read an article that made me think that maybe cats are smarter. I don’t know if the article is true or not, but it was in a newspaper so I have to give it credit.
A cat was able to find the body of its owner and was even able to pinpoint the killer. It made me want to go out and buy a cat.
