Do you still give alms to beggars on the streets?

Poverty is one of the major problems in our country. And we would often see beggars on the streets asking for money just so they could buy something to eat. But oftentimes, we just neglect them and pretend we didn't see them.
For me, I don't give them money anymore. Nowadays, mostly in our country, beggars would use their collected money to buy drugs instead of food. I mean, why would they do that? I don't even know if I should trust them because i'd rather hand them food instead of money. I don't really shoo them away. I would apologize sincerely that I don't have anything to give. I would often times just pray for them whenever I would pass by them.
How about you? Do you still give alms to beggars on the streets or do you give them something to eat instead? Do you shoo them away just like that?

Here in Aklan, I don't see much beggars although there's about two or three waiting outside Jollibee, a fastfood near Pastrana Park. My heart goes out to these kids. I give them food and drinks whenever I have any. Back in Manila, I never give money to them either. I give them food because I know that it'll help. I don't give to those who look okay and can work if they want too. I only give to little kids and those that are really old.

hmmm well i mostly igone them. Because most of them seem fake.
but i do give some money, who are disabled or old in age.

I still give alms to them. Usually we give coins. However, there are now too many young and healthy looking beggars that I choose to ignore. I will, however, still give alms to women and children and the elderlies. In my place, it is not so good to give them food due to difference in religion. But, money is ok!

In the city I give them nothing. If they are in my little town, and they re doing something like playiong music outside the market, I will. The ones that have taken to going door to door are really cheesing me off and I am looking for a solution of what to do about them.
