Home alone again

I've been home alone a lot lately, and it's starting to get to me. My husband is away for 10 days at a time for work, during which I can't see him or talk to him at all, so I basically just work and sit here home alone. I get so bored, I'm looking for ideas to keep me busier.
What do you do when you're stuck at home alone? How do you get motivated to get up and do something?

What a bummer. I actually don't get too much alone time, so I kinda treasure it when I get it. But it sounds like you have too much of a good thing...persay.
Do you like crafting? When I'm alone I really like the opportunity to be creative...uninterrupted. I also find that when i get focused on a project, time really starts to fly.
If you want to check out all that's hot in the world of craft, I would reccomend www.craftster.org. Some of my favortie projects are knitting, stenciling t-shirts, generally embelishing things (or as I call it, glueing stuff, to other stuff), and making my own cards.
Hope this helps!

I used to do a lot of artwork in my free time (drawing, painting, pastels), I should really start that up again. Inspiration certainly doesn't hit me as often as it used to, but once I get started on a project I like the hours go by so fast.
Also, I wonder if there's something like a local Stitch 'n b!tch group, that would be a fun way to meet new friends around here (I'm pretty new to town, so not knowing anyone here contributes to my boredom). It would be fun to have regular meets to visit over coffee and knitting. I just taught myself to knit this past year, so the gals would be able to give me lots of pointers too ;)

Joining a local SnB group is a great idea. If there's one thing knitters like to do...it's talk about knitting, and share secrets.
There is a SnB near me that meets at a bar. I've gone once, but I found that my knitting seems to suffer after a few cocktails:-)

I'm in the same boat. My boyfriend travels for work to. We have been together for 6.5 years... so it's a little weird being a lone. I read, go to the library, go to the book store, go for Thai food (at a place we always go so it's not so weird eating alone), I try new recipes, I go to the park, I practice Tai chi and do things that I think well better myself.

I've lived on my own for the past 20 years .. it's wonderful .. I don't work because of my disabilities .. but I never ever get bored .. I simply don't have time enough to do everything I want to each day ..
What about your hobbies, learning a new skill, art or pottery for instance, or something academic .. if you want to get out of the house for a few hours how about helping out a charity or the elderly .. many elderly folks would love a visitor now and then ..
If you choose carefully you can find things to do that can be set aside when your hubby is home ... and picked up again when he is away ..

When I'm stuck at home on my own I spend a lot of time at my computer. I love to write, mainly song lyrics, poetry, short stories etc., as a way to escape from the boredom. If I have lost my creative streak, then I will happily sit and read for ages, get lost in a good book for a few hours.
I know that I should be getting things done around the hosue and although it's not always easy, I do try to force myself into getting the jobs done. Perhaps you have a cupboard that needs sorting out, or maybe go through your wardrobe and sort your clothes, not very exciting I know, but it does while away a few hours.
Hope that helps hun

Home Alone? Does that still happen? I have no clue what that is like. I am married and have three kids and would give anything to have a night were I was home alone. I could do all sorts of things. Read, crafts, watch movies, chat with friends on yim, cleaning, etc.... I'm jealous, I want a night home alone. Okay on a more serious note, I wish you the best and I hope you receive lots of good ideas for ways to keep busy.
