Hey all, just wanted to share some info for all you in the US...I have received numerous e-mails about May 15th (Tuesday) DO NOT buy gas on this day! Spread the word! May 15th we need to protest the insanley high costs of gas by not using the pumps. Just think about it. How many people are on MyLot? If every person here did not use the pumps on that day it would cause the oil companies to lose over 2 million dollars....just from us alone. Please, e-mail everyone you know, use MyLot (you are more than welcome to repost this due to the nature of the situation) MySpace, Facebook, or any other media you know of to get everyone informed. As Americans, we need to start fighting against this rather than just whine about it and wait for someone to do something about it. If we are truly a democracy, then we need to start acting like it!

It's a nice thought but, unfortunately, this protest only works if people actually don't consume gas for the whole day, instead of just not purchasing it. Think about it, your driving around on May 14th and are a bit low on gas, normally you would fill up the next day on your way to work, but since you are "protesting" on the 15th, you would go and buy the gas that night, right? or you would just run on fumes until the 16th. So, even if everyone would protest by not buying on the 15th, there would just be a corrosponding spike in sales on the 14th and 16th, evening it all out. Most of us can't afford to not go to work/school for a day to sit home and not use gas. The real answer is to actually use less gas in our daily lives; drive more efficently, use public transportation, walk, or ride a bike when possible. As demand lessens, price will also come down, but everyone has to make an effort.

True, so we need to plan a bit ahead for it. It's the wishy washy, "oh what good will this do" thinking that has gotten this country where we are now. Sure, maybe it's not the best plan, but it's the only one we got right now. If some people can stand up and start speaking back, people will be motivated to come up with much stronger ideas...so we need to start somewhere.

You know, we could find out which gas companies are making the most money and boycott them. Only buy our gas from certain gas companies. That might actually make a difference.

If people only realized what we could do if we truly came together as a collective body in this country. This concept is one that I have talked with many people about and yet, there are people that will read this and find it insignificant. It is an amazing way to send a message to the oil industry and I hope you get a ton of responses. I have already passed it along..Thanks !

Thank you. I have the same worries that most people will find this meaningless, but I think it's that kind of attitude that has gotten us where we are now, and all we do is whine about it on CNN. I am using MySpace, e-mail, MyLot, and any other message boards I can find. I appreciate your support! :)

I will not be buying gas that day and have been telling everyone that I come across. I hope that alot of people do this. Gas prices are way too high.

Thank you for your support! I know this is only a small thing, but I think if everyone got together all the time and kept up little boycotts like this, they would eventually turn into big boycotts...then the government would have to listen. If we have the right to vote them into office, then we have the right to disagree and fight them too!

I think this is a great idea, I just don't think that it will work. Yes the oil companies would lose millions of dollars if no one pumped gas that day, but like someone posted earlier the only way to make this effective would be to stop all gasoline consumption for the day. That is obviously not going to happen so their is either going to be a surplus of people on the 14th or 16th getting gas that will make up for the people that didn't go on the 15th. I personally will be one of the people not getting gas on the 15th, and will work on spreading the word. I'm very hopeful that it will work, but also realize that it will probably not work.
