If children of one culture are living in another culture, I believe that the parents should raise them to understand and embrace both cultures. As the children grow older, they will make their own decisions of which culture they want to belong to, but children who are brought up multi-cultural will naturally be more accepting of the differences in people.
Culture overall should be taught from an early age. Schools of other countries study other cultures as lessons, because often they don't have people from other countries around. In America, where almost everyone has a different cultural background, we can learn from people around us daily. So it is very important for everyone, not just children, to learn about culture and accept cultures of others.

I think it's very important to pass on culture-it is giving the children their "roots". But, at the same time, we must teach our children to respect other cultures as well as their own.

A countries culture is one of the most important things it has. Children should be taught it in order to appreciate how things evolved into todays culture. The teaching should serve to help them see their role in present day culture.
I hope you will enjoy the 'culture' here at myLot. There are a lot of wonderful people here and there is a lot to be learned from many of them.
Welcome.
